The Children's Farm House & School

Our Program

Triskelee Sprouts combines the beauty and wonder of a 25-acre working farm with the hands-on learning philosophies of Montessori and Waldorf education. Each day is built around a rhythm that includes activities and lessons in the classroom, free play, and time outdoors on the farm! The preschool classroom is a warm, home-like environment with open space for play, and materials and activities that are made from natural materials.

Curriculum

The preschool program at Triskelee Sprouts Farm School is a gentle introduction to the school environment, with a strong focus on social-emotional development. The children enjoy group activities, as well as individual lessons based on their observed readiness for new materials.

Life-long Learning

The materials in our classroom support different aspects of child development, creating a match between the child’s natural interests and the available activities. Children can learn through their own experience and at their own pace. Whether it is learning a new song, practicing writing or painting, the children are always actively and joyfully engaged, learning, and growing.

The Farm & Outdoors

Nature

Everyday, our blended-age group of children will spend time outdoors, no matter the weather. We will follow an unhurried pace as we care for the animals, walk by the pond, climb on tree stumps, and work in the garden together.

Animals

Children will build relationships with the farm animals through feeding, brushing, cleaning, and observing each animal in their living space. Other farm tasks will include gardening, collecting eggs, milking a goat, having exposure to newborn farm animals, cooking, journaling, and natured-based art projects.

Connection

Through their time outdoors, children will learn about the value of our interconnectedness and inherent reliance upon each other. We will learn about life cycles in plants and animals, the different origins of food, and the joyful experience that comes from cooking and baking together. Children will learn the important ways that we can live in community with other humans, animals and the earth in a meaningful and authentic way.
